![]() ![]() This wouldn't be done for an exchange box, but could be done with the customers agreement of likely reduced life for the associated reduction in cost. ![]() Of course if you have your own box reconditioned, and let them know you want just enough done to make it work it can work out cheaper as any bearings that are in reasonable condition will be left. The lister list price of the spares comes to £529 plus VAT which is £635 so you can see why the price is what it is. The gearbox will come with a guarantee and will be sorted if it goes wrong within that guarantee period. They will also have replaced all the bearings and seals. It will have a reconditioned brake band and clutch cone (these are no longer available new so will have been refurbished and relined with friction material). If you buy a reconditioned gearbox from people like Richard or Dave in the above post it will have been completely stripped down, checked and rebuilt. The reason for the cost is the price of the spares. I have a vested interest in this in that I sell Lister spares, and Richard of Primrose Engineering (my Husband) reconditions Lister Engines and gearboxes. ![]()
